Diving and Snorkelling:
Catering for all levels of abilities, the area surrounding El Gouna boasts over 40 dive sites that can easily be reached within one to two hours on the many dive boats. With spectacular, sheltered coral reefs ideal for learning to dive, wonderful drift and wall dives, complete wrecks waiting to be explored, and even a chance to encounter dolphins and turtles, this is a fabulous base for discovering the Red Sea.
Some excellent wreck diving can be found including the ship graveyard of Sha'ab Abu Nuhas in the Straits of Gubal, plus the legendary wreck of World War II supply ship, Thistlegorm.
El Gouna's many diving centers and easy access to the finest reefs and wrecks in the Red Sea make it a diver's paradise. Its protected waters also give divers unparalleled opportunity to observe and interact with undersea life, particularly dolphins. The heated pools and calm reefs of El Gouna are the perfect place for the beginning divers to hone their skills. Experienced divers drawn to the region to explore those same sites will find that El Gouna's diving centers have plenty to offer them as well. Dive centers offer a complete range of diving education, including PADI diving certification, from beginner to professional level. Additionally, The Dive Tribe is also a certified National Geographic Diving Center.
Junior Diving:
Diving in El Gouna can be a family affair. Ask your dive center of choice about diving programs and courses tailored for kids, which include PADI Bubble Maker, Discover Scuba Diving, Junior Scuba Diving, and a Junior Open Water Diving and Snorkeling course. Special discounts are available for young children
Handicapped Diving:
The opportunity to explore the underwater realm surrounding El Gouna is also extended to guests with reduced mobility. Many disabled persons are able to complete a standard scuba diver course, with minor adjustments as necessary, depending on the type of disability. All divers must complete a medical questionnaire, and those with a handicap are required to produce a medical certificate stating that they are fit to dive. It is advisable to get in touch with the dive center and discuss individual needs in advance. Dive schools with facilities tailored specifically for divers with physical disabilities are found in Sheraton Miramar, TTC Rihana, and Mövenpick Resort & Spa.
